Mason Jar Crafts

Mason jar crafts are a great DIY project you can make and give as a gift any time of year.

I always see mason jars at thrift stores and yard sales for dirt cheap! Even if you have to purchase them at full price they are a bargain. I usually buy them in a set of eight or twelve to use for craft or decorative ideas.

Making these inexpensive crafts is a great way to decorate for the different holidays without spending a lot of money. Most of these projects require supplies you probably already have or can pick up at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. And who doesn’t love a trip to the craft store?

Lately my girls have started to drink out of mason jars, so my craft stash is depleting.

Below we’ve compiled some of the best mason jar craft ideas we’ve found on the internet.

Mason Jar Craft Ideas

Most of these crafts can be made in about an hour with items you probably already have in your home.

Mason Jar Lanterns

Need some cute centerpieces for your outdoor dining? These mason jar lanterns are perfect for decorating your deck or patio. Use citronella candles so these lanterns can do double duty of providing soft lighting keeping the bugs away.

DIY Mason Jar Tissue Holder

Save the tissue boxes for kid’s crafts and make this super cute tissue holder. Match your bathroom or home decor with this painted mason jar. It’s so easy to make and looks great on your bathroom counter.

Mason Jar Photo Craft

I love this photo jar idea for a graduation gift (to the parents!). Personally I love black and white, but I think this would look great in color as well.

These mason jar photo vases would also make great grandparent gifts.

How To Paint Mason Jars

Painted mason jar craft

Ever wonder how to get that dreamy painted mason jar look you see in all of Joanna Gaine’s fixer uppers? Here’s a quick tutorial on how to paint mason jars.

You can use painted jars for just about anything in your home. From the kitchen to the nightstand these are a great way to bring a pop of color into your room without spending a ton of money on accessories.

Mason Jar Tutu

Do your girls need a place to store odds and ends in their room. My girl’s rooms are always littered with hair ties, bobby pins, and random items I have no idea why they have in the first place.

This cute mason jar tutu is a great way to store their tiny things and keep them off the floor. Use any color tulle to customize to their room decor.

DIY No. 2 Pencil Mason Jar Pencil Holder

Are you kids doing school at home this year? Don’t let all their pens and pencils clutter up your kitchen table (or coffee table, or dining room table, or couch… etc).

This cute No. 2 pencil jar is a great way to hold pencils (or pens) and your kids won’t have an excuse to not finish their work because they can’t find any pencils.

Buffalo Check Mason Jar

Anyone else LOVE the buffalo check print? It is so fun and goes with fall and winter decor.

It’s fairly easy to use your fabric fabric to decorate a mason jar no matter what season. For this craft the fabric is inside the jar which makes it easier to clean.

Mason Jar Luminary Leaf Centerpieces

How festive are these fall centerpieces? Rather than spending a lot of money on a large centerpiece, create the look of larger decor by grouping smaller items, like these fall centerpieces.

Jack-O-Lantern

More fall fun with this mason jar jack-o=lantern. Skip the messy pumpkin carving and make jack-o-lanterns out of mason jars.

Or add these cute lanterns to your walkway to welcome kids on Halloween.

DIY Mason Jar Ghost

This not so scary ghost makes a fun October decoration. Skip the pricey decor and the party store and make your own with leftover mason jars.

Make A Pretty Mason Jar Christmas Centerpiece

I’m literally IN LOVE with this Christmas centerpiece. It is so simple yet elegant and would look great on a mantle or table.

You can even change out the leaves and the “O” jar to make this a seasonal decoration. Seriously SO CUTE!

Mason Jar Lid Labels

Have you ever made one of those mixes in a jar? If so, why not finish off the gift with a cute printable label. These free holiday printables are available for regular and large lid sizes.

Snowman Mason Jar Gift

Living in Florida this mason jar snowman is the closest thing we have to snow at Christmas. This adorable craft can be filled with any sweet treat and given as a thoughtful holiday gift to your favorite teacher, neighbor, or community worker.

Snowglobe in a Mason Jar

DIY craft snowglobe

I have always loved snow globes since I was a child. I even collect holiday globes as an adult.

There’s simply something magical about shaking the jar and seeing the “snow” slowly float to the bottom. Maybe it’s because I grew up in Florida and didn’t experience snow until I was older, but any snow globe catches my attention.

You can make your own with a few simple craft store supplies, and of course a mason jar.

How to paint Mason Jars for Christmas

Christmas mason jar craft

I created a similar craft for teacher gifts one year. I use mason jars and decorated them for the holidays.

Then we filled the mason jar with the teacher’s favorite candy. Tucked inside the candy was a Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts gift card.

You can paint the mason jar to decorate for any season.

DIY Homemade Candles in Mason Jars

Did you know you can make a candle using a mason jar? I prefer the small pint sized jars for this craft, but you can use any size you like.

Homemade candles are a great gift during the holidays or any time you want someone to feel extra special.

DIY Flip Stir Whisk Mason Jar Tutorial

I’m a big fan of clutter free counters, but I would make an exception for this utensil caddy. This tutorial is a little more complicated because it does involve making the wood box, but you can always use something you have around the house if you don’t want to saw wood during your free time.

DIY Mason Jar Toothbrush Holder

This clever craft using chicken wire to keep the toothbrushes from falling to the side of the mason jar.

I need this for my bathroom since there are no toothbrush holders (or towel holders) anywhere in the room!
